Tracy King Wurzel is the Comptroller's Special Assistant for Policy and Legislative Affairs, responsible for advising the Comptroller and agency managers on legislative issues affecting the agency operations, interpreting legislation, managing agency efforts to provide information to elected officials, develop strategies for passage of legislation of interest to the Comptroller and participate in the development of policy initiatives for the Comptroller.

Wurzel has 11 years of experience in governmental affairs and policy development. She gained Washington D.C. experience working in the United States House of Representatives for three members of Congress as well as serving as the Director of House Government Affairs for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). Upon returning to Texas, Wurzel worked in the Texas Senate as a Legislative Director and as Executive Director for two public policy organizations. Before joining the Comptroller's office, Wurzel was Special Assistant and Senior Deputy Commissioner for Policy for the General Land Office advising the Land Commissioner and agency managers on policy initiatives and legislative matters pending before the Legislature.
